all of us with nap issues

I know you're there. It seems we're all frequenting the toddler board w/ nap?'s. I thought we could post here too maybe. What are you trying as far as some quiet time or getting your toddler to nap? And what are you doing to stay sane?
Right now ds still goes in his room for quiet time from 1-2/3, but he's not napping. By the end of the day he's a little monster for lack of better words. And with sleep deprivation on my from ds2, there are days I just am at my wits end. I feel like I yell at him or just have no patience. I'm not sure really what else to try. We've tried calmly talking to him and laying down with him, and trying to tire him out, but nothing's working.

Have you tried laying him down EARLIER on the days he doesn't nap? When they're really tired, it's harder for them to fall asleep, so try putting him to bed 30 or even 60 minutes earlier at night on days when he skips his nap.

MT has been taking super short naps lately, so he's going to bed at 7 instead of 7:30.

My 2 year old is giving up the nap now and it is killing me! Against eveything I said I would never do I invested in a bunch of pixar movies. He is hooked! He will lay on the couch with me and the baby for the whole movie. I get him a snack and we all veg out on the couch, almost as a god as a nap! After he is a happy boy, the down time is just enough to get him through to the evening in a good mood.

Ok, glad nap strikes are normal for toddlers w/ a new sib. We've been taking car rides to get sophia down.

Ugh, I am really struggling with this right now too. Before James was born, dd-2.5 would still nurse down for a nap, and ds-4.5 would "sleep" (which means just play quietly) in his own room. Now that the baby is here, dd sleeps in the bedroom with ds, but he keeps her awake by talking to her and trying to get her to play with him. They are also little conspirators and get into trouble at every opportunity. The thing is though, she NEEDS to take a nap or she's a monster in the afternoons. I've tried keeping her in bed with me and the babe, but that isn't working either. I've yelled, bribed, pleaded, but this little girl (and her mommy!) needs a nap!
