Becoming a doula, if possible...need suggestions

Just starting to think about becoming a doula, but worried about finances (I currently watch 2 other children everyday from 3-8 and get paid very very well) and also childcare for my 13 month old if my husband is at work. I am not in a rush, especially since he still needs to nurse to sleep ALWAYS, but want to have a more solid plan before I start on that path. Neither my husband or I have family around to watch him unfortunately. Any suggestions from Doulas who experienced the same thing starting out? Supplemental income ideas for work at home? Is there a network of Doulas in this area who can care for each others children when called to a birth? ANy ideas would be appreciated...its a big step, but I really think I want to eventually go back to school to be a homebirth midwife and I want to experience being a doula first to be sure...
