Dollhouse and funiture?

Dh wants to make dd a doll house for Christmas- Barbie size (though I plan on her Only Hearts Club dolls living in it). So, anyone know of a good easy pattern or kit? Also, I want to make the furniture for it, anyone got any ideas for making furniture to go with it? All ideas are welcome!

TIA,

Not a pattern but

how about a bookcase for a house? You could add a roof on the top. I've seen bookcase dollhouses actually and they just have a roof added.

I'm not sure about the furniture. McCalls (I think) sells patterns for furniture made of foamcore covered in fabric. I tried it but found the foamcore to be flimsy. I think plywood might work better. The furniture is simple-just boxes covered in batting and fabric.

Thanks for the ideas. I've got some foam, maybe I can cut it into shapes to make some furniture.

I did find a good kit at www.martindollhouses.com incase anyone else is interested.

I don't know if they are barbie sized, but at Michael's, I have seen unfinished ones for really cheap that you paint yourself, along with miniature pieces.

I know I am late to chime in, but thought this might help. What you are looking for is a "playscale" dollhouse kit or plan. You might want to check out Real Good Toys Playscale kits:

I think their products are all made in Vermont. Also, I think theirs are the ones carried at Michael's. Best of luck!
