Is this bleeding excessive?

I had DD four months ago by c-section. At the beginning of June I had a light period and nothing until Saturday.

Saturday morning I woke up bleeding and it has been the heaviest I have ever had, as heavy as my postpartum bleeding.

I use the Diva Cup and I have had to empty it 10 times since Saturday morning, so that's about 10 ounces in 48 hours. Just this morning, in the last 2 hours I emptied the cup twice and then went through two Super absorbency OB tampons, one right after the other. Ordinarily, I have to empty the cup once at bedtime (and it's not even full) and then I empty it in the shower in the morning. I never leak out of the cup, but besides leaking a lot yesterday, this morning I left a trail of blood to the bathroom twice (that dear darling DH cleaned up for me). I looked like "Carrie" from the waist down in the shower.

I have a call in to my OB, but in the meantime, this seems excessive to me, how about you? I have never had a period like this in my 27 years of having periods.

I wish I had some idea of what is wrong but I don't. I hope someone here can give some sort of idea.

I'm back!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you all. I'm fine!

I called the doctor again and finally spoke to a nurse who said, "Can you be here in an hour?" I called my friend who drove me (and Corbin and Pippa) because she was afraid I could pass out.

So, anyway, basically she said that I could be bleeding so much because of my hypothyroid, because of having low estrogen and a thick uterine lining that needs more sloughing off, or because of nothing. She did take some tissue from the lining of my uterus (ouch!) just to make sure there's nothing to be concerned about. She also sent me for bloodwork to check my thyroid.

While I was there I asked if she ever got the report back from my placenta analysis (the placenta is always sent off whenever the baby ends up in the NICU). She did and what was found is that it was very small and had a lot of calcification. I was only 38.3 weeks along when Pippa was born, so it wasn't really old. But it just wasn't doing its job and it didn't take care of Pippa the way it should have. I hate my body. :
