Appointments

For those of us who are not going UP we well be going to appointments.

Who is going to be doing OBs and who will be using Midwifes? What are they doing to you at said appointment? And how the appointment went.

UP's feel free to join in with what you are doing for yourself.

My first appointment is going to be Monday the 13th. I called and told them I just wanted to talk to my NP. Last time I told them I wanted a pregnancy confirmed they told me to just come into the lab and then I couldn't get them to test my blood and they wouldn't make me another appoint for 3 weeks. So I'm leaving out some details.

I'm also wanting them to test other things like my thyroid and adrenal stuff. I'm going to also push for a blood test so I can see the numbers.

Well, I had my annual exam setup for the 13th..... so maybe I should call and change the purpose of the appointment. But in all actuality I'm not even sure I'm going to make the appointment. : My co-op teacher hasn't contacted me back on my start date, so I could be beginning my student teaching that day.

Can you call and make it earlier? Maybe for this week?

Ummm.... nope. I won't be back in town until Saturday. (My husband had an internship this summer away from home) And since I live in a pretty small town where there is nothing to do besides hike and have babies, you usually have to make an appointment far in advance! So maybe I'll get in when I'm around week 8.

This is why POAS is a bad thing. We are so use to a 3 minute result we become impatient! Dumb doctors (or whatever the case may be).

Thats why I didn't tell them over the phone what I wanted this time. I'll wait a week and get all I want done. I know I'm pregnant.. I don't need them to tell me that I am. I have to wait until 8 weeks to get the first u/s any way... so putting a rush on this won't do any good. I just want to know all is well.

I'm hitting the sauce...

So right now, teriyaki sauce is my best friend. I don't indulge too frequently, maybe once a week but boy, when I do it's almost .... orgasmic.
I'll have some of those pringles!

I'm currently asking around for "crunchy" midwives. There are midwives all over the place here, but since they are a regular part of the system, they aren't necessarily less medical than a doctor.

I'm in no rush to get in, anyway. I don't particuarly want the routine 12-week u/s, since I know exactly when we conceived and my cycles are textbook. I don't particularly want any prenatal testing. I'll be testing my own blood for GD, as I did in my last pregnancy. Actually, unless something weird happens, I'm not sure why I'm going to be seeing a midwife at all . (Yes I do -- I want to get to know her before the birth.)

Of course, I haven't discussed all this with DH yet, and he may very much want a 12-week u/s and some prenatal testing (he's worried about the increased chance of a chromosomal defect, but I don't know just how worried).

The mid wife I met when I m/c last month is a member here!!! How great is that? She puts Mothering in the waiting area too! How lucky am I? But their are 2 other midwifes at the place so I don't know who will be there at the time of delivery. I hope so much that it is the one I want.
