Other than that, it was good!
They didn't just say 6 months. They said a whole year and had it written on the screen. So that was actually good! Although I would have liked it if they had said a MINIMUM of one year and after that for as long as mom and baby would like, which is what the AAP actually says.

I was so glad they included a mom who said she had not been educated on BFing and didn't have the chance to make an informed choice. I so often hear the argument that "everyone already knows" all about BF and we should just leave them alone and let them decide, and the reality is that alot of people really DON"T know. I think there is somewhat of an attitude that BFing is for a certain socioeconomic and racial demographic only, that "those women" just don't nurse, that leads to some patients just not getting support for BF at all. My sister had two deliveries at two different inner-city hospitals, and in both cases the nurses were SHOCKED to have someone BFing. Their patients just didn't do that, and they weren't into giving appropriate support and education about it either. She nursed of her own volition, but if she had come in and said she wanted to FF no one would have tried to educate her on BF at all. I delivered in the same urban area that she did, in the only baby-friendly hospital in this whole area-- and it is one that is out in a wealthy suburb. The organization that runs it also runs an inner-city hospital that delivers more babies than any hospital in the state, and the one they choose to make baby-friendly is the small hospital that serves mainly by a wealthy, white suburban demographic. Typical and sad.

....the video clip I watched there was no mention of 1year and the bullet point on the screen mentioned EBF for 6 months....could someone provide me with the proper link? I would love to watch it! Thanks!

The link on abc.com, even though it says it's about breastmilk, now shows a video clip of a terrorism story, not the BF story. I have the actual show on my TiVo and it definitely says one year. Here's a quote:

"The American Academy of Pediatrics says unequivocably that women should breastfeed for the first year of a child's life."

On screen:

BREASTFEEDING
FIRST YEAR

I didn't hear "six months" anywhere in that story. Maybe you saw a different news story. This one was really good!
