hi from newbie, glad to find you all

I just found these boards yesterday & I'm so psyched... this is going to be just what I need to get through the next three months.

I'm in NYC and planning a home birth, due date 11-18-07. I had a m/c in January and got pregnant again immediately, which was hard at first but was definitely the right thing for me.

I'm very excited about the home birth and really, really trust my midwife.

I babysat for ages (almost 20 years, all told) but am still really nervous about what life with a newborn will be like.

Cheers,
Annie

Yay, new blood! So fill us in, have you had an ultrasound or are choosing not to, what's your partner like, are you all that worried about weight gain, what dreams are you having, are you cloth diapering, etc... Ya know, all the nosy stuff we feed each other daily. :

Hi Annie! Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome!!

I'm actually originally from Long Island...all of my family is still there, though!! I love NY :-)

Life with a newborn.... it definitely changes life in a big big way. It's pretty scary to be faced with such an awesome responsibility....but the rewards are tremendous :-) It helps that you've got a great support group here!

Anyway... welcome!!! :-) We're glad to have you!

Well, since you asked...

I had two ultrasounds very early on because of the m/c & before I chose a home birth & midwife care & no testing & all that. I did have the 20 week ultrasound but did not find out the sex--really just so the midwife would know if there was anything she needed to prepare for. Other than that, I'm having no tests--I haven't even been doing urine tests with my midwife. I'm very low risk, very healthy. My husband's really, really supportive, thankfully.

I have already gained 30 pounds on what feels like a well-monitored diet, but trying not to worry about it. As for crazy dreams, the one I had last night was so disturbing I'm really trying to forget it...

And I'm cloth diapering, with a service

!! I'm Julia, also expecting my first, five days after you, and also switched to a midwife for a homebirth. I enjoy the birth stories on this site.

I'm so jealous you're in NYC!! I went to grad school there in the mid-90's... totally miss it but have a great job here in DC and no longer have to sell my old CD's to the guy with a stand on 114th and B'way to buy food! I do love the city though. Are you right in Manhattan? It sure has changed a lot since I was there.

I'm in Queens (since 2003), but lived in Manhattan for 8 years.

I've found the home birth forum--this is such a great place!
