Muslim Mamas tribe - Page 72

Thanks Liquesce!

I filled out the form for the first one. I will mail it tomorrow. I read that controversies about the PCRF on Wikipedia. I trust that if Jimmy Carter supports them, they must be ok, but I'll be prudent until I know more.

Do you know if IR donations are tax deductible? Maybe that is unislamic. I don't know.

Thanks again.

Awesome. I really love that organization ... I only wish I had more to give them. Whenever I look over the full list of what they do I'm always in awe of just how many people they're trying to reach.

They are tax deductible; no religious conflict there.

P.S.- Congratulations on finishing your masters!

Please pray for my friend's friend (Mohammed) who was injured in a car accident in Jordan today. He is in a coma in ICU. His father died a few years back in a car accident. You can imagine his mother's state.

He needs lots of prayers.

Oh, Kate, I'm really sorry for him. I hope he's ok.

Me too. I am heartbroken, and I don't even know the guy. I do know that his family has had its share of tough. I hope he gets better.

Reminds you that life is so fragile. Hug and kiss your loved ones. Let them know you love them!

P.S. I mailed my sponsorship. I can't wait to hear from them.

As salamu 'alaikom~

A friend has been selling hijabs and halal snacks through her blog and facebook for a while, and has just opened an online store at shopthesouq.com ... she's hosting an Eid giveaway if anyone wanted to put their name in on it. She's a really good, solid sister, so you know your money is going to a good place if you do buy anything from her.

thanks for this link. and thanks to all of you who have shared your suggestions as i explore Islam. i appreciate your guidance.

kate, my prayers are with your friend and his family.

the nypost story posted 8/29....the violence and hatred in people's hearts is scary, sad, and disturbing. i pray that those hearts can be transformed, and that those in positions of power will use their power more wisely. crimes need proper punishment, for goodness sake, and no one should have to live in fear.

Salam mamas,
Please keep my half-sisters family in your prayers. We just found out that her half-brother(on the other side) died last night in a motorcycle crash. I don't really know how I feel about it yet, but I know that she is heartbroken. Please pray for them. He was only 27.

Wa'alaikum Assalam Marsipan and Umm Ali.

So, I'm looking for a gift for my Dad and stumbled across the book, "Zeitoun." Has anybody read it? It looks quite good.

Are you fasting when you are breastfeeding?

I did. Never had problems with it. I also fasted in one of my 3 pregnancies, with my son, and he was born in Leilat-ul-Qadr. With the girls, I had no chance to fast, as I was vomiting day and night for 7 and 9 months with them.

i just need to share my excitement: the outreach coordinator of the mosque nearest me will arrange for someone to be my companion, so i can attend & experience friday prayers. :
also through the mosque learned of an iftar celebration open to the community, which i will attend on saturday. when i asked dp to be in charge of childcare for the evening, he just grinned at me; he is an atheist but very supportive of my seeking.

Oh ... I'm glad they're being so friendly and accessible.

I didn't. All of my kids relied heavily on breastmilk until they were two years old...and it was just too tough. I know women who do, though, and have no trouble. I really think it's an individual thing.

I tried to fast but in the afternoons and evenings i felt i didn't have enough milk and my son was very fussy at the breast. We just started introducing solids like 4 days now. I tried to fast one day and have one day break but i ended up stressing all day about milk and my son wasn't very happy.

I stopped fasting now but my husband doesn't really agree with me.:

I did fast when i was pregnant last year, even though i was extremely sick for 4 months.

But i do feel little left out of the Ramadan experience

Assalamu Alaikum:

OK, today's Friday and September 11th... so Sisters, please just be a little careful out there. I don't know about the others here, but my likelihood for getting negative comments and such goes up exponentially on this day (which is understandable, I know).

Our masjid finally put up their domes on the main prayer hall and minaret after....gosh... maybe 25-30 years without. I really hope that doesn't make us a target.

I hope everybody is enjoying the last 10 days of Ramadan. :.
