My partner and I were recently dubbed "carrier whores" by our housemate because we just want to try everything that's out there. What I finally realized is that there is no ONE BEST carrier. The best thing to do is to use several different ones because they hold the weight in different places, so your back won't necessarily get tired in the same place all the time. I guess if you don't have as big a baby as my little (LARGE) one, it's not as big a deal, but...
Anyway, that being said, we just bought the sutemi pack (
www.sutemigear.com) and I love it for longer wearing because my back doesn't get as tired. It has waist support so some of the weight is carried there, not just on your shoulders/back.
But I also love the new native sling, and the bjorn was the best for the first two months (after that he seemed to heavy for any long term wearing).
We also just bought some fabric to use like the girasol/didymos, that you just tie on and that gives a lot of support too and just feels like you're really cool that you can "tie your baby on!"
Bottom line...just start somewhere because wearing your baby is THE BEST!!!
