FINALLY got to see a doc...erg!

I don't think I posted here that I decided against a HB. I'm really happy with OB practice that I delivered DS with and the hospital (it will be the same) was fantastic in their support of NCB.

Soooooo, I finally decided to make an appointment thinking we'd end up paying out of pocket. Turns out they have good connections and I'll find out soon if we qualify for another program.

The point Sarah, get to the point...... It was SO FRUSTRATING!!!!! First, I got there at 9 to fill out paperwork for the insurance program thinking I'd know before the appointment (scheduled for 10) if I qualified. Then they tell me "oh, we're going to have to do this after" since their special person who handles it wasn't in... they didn't know?

DH WAH, we only have one car, so MIL came to play with Titus and DH was supposed to show up for the appointment at 10 in MIL's car so he didn't have to spend so much time missing work. Round about 10:10 I start asking him (via text message) when he's going to get there. "Huh? Why do I need to come?" ARG!!!!!!!!! We discussed this at length!!!!! For one, I needed his signature on the insurance paperwork. Two, I may or may not have an ultrasound. Three, and most importantly... you SAID you'd come!!! Fortunately it's no more than 2 miles away and he says he's on his way. I think he realized that it didn't matter what happened during the appointment, the fact that he said he'd be there was the thing. For a while, I just wished they'd callme in and I could tell DH "forget about coming!" but at the same time I was so mad that it was already so far past the appointment time, yet glad because I wanted DH there.

The whole time, the radio was on the XM commercial station. As in a neverending commercial to BUY XM radio. I heard the same clips about 15 times while I was there... it was abour 10:20 that they called me back. From the 2nd story window of the exam room I saw DH pull up!

Finally he comes in and the nurse does my stats and everything. They listened to baby's heartbeat (154, don't even try to tell me it's a girl ) which was cool since DH never got to hear Titus's. Then they say that the ultrasound won't be until later in the week : and to get naked and put on the paper dress. DH decided he had some phone calls to make in the lobby

So, I was really liking the nurse practitioner that was doing the exam (I hadn't had a pap since before I was pg with Titus) until this one thing... She had poked and proded my belly while I was sitting, but then once I was lying down she said that it seemed like my uterus was small... but only lying down. Mostly because it wasn't above my belly button. I ask "so, do you think that's becaue my belly is so much more stretched out this time? Ya know, everything just falls forward. I feel baby kick above my bellybutton all the time." She scrunched up her face considering that and went "Yeah! That's probably it!" Like it was this huge lightbulb moment for her. It made me think she'd never examined anyone in their 2nd pregnancy or just hadn't thought about the logistics.
One good thing though is that when she brought up the glucose test I told her I had GD last time and I'd like to just skip to doing finger pokes with meal charting. She said they'd need to have some kind of documentation (apparently my menu isn't official enough ) for insurance so she'll just include another test along with my standard bloodwork. No glucola, no waiting around, but she does want me to come in fasting. Cool by me, I''ll just go first thing in the morning! She said that from there, depending on the results we'd go to the finger pokes or not have to worry at all. My gosh, why can't they do that for everyone?
Still, I'm just really glad that in the 3rd trimester I'll see an actual doctor.

Oh, and ultrasound on the 15th!!! I'm happy to find out about the gender, but I'm even more excited to either quit worrying or actually make plans for a baby with a cleft palate.

It doesn't stop! I went in for the bloodwork today... made sure I knew which lab would take my insurance before I left the OB office yesterday. Headed out early this morning (hungry) to the lab. I was SO happy that there were only 4 other people in the lobby! It was a nice lobby too, flat panel TV, the staff had nice white lab coats... call me up and.... Oops, we don't take your insurance :

The other lab was just in the next building, but there were honestly TWENTY people there! The upholstry on the lobby chairs were coming undone, big stains on the floor and the staff had on what looked to be disposable lab coats. Surprisingly though, I got called back quite quickly considering the crowd. The tech had absolutely no sense of humor- as she's reaching for vial after vial after vial to fill with blood I laugh "ok, that's enough!" and she looked at me like she really didn't get it. I kind of shrink back, Uh, just do what you need to do. :eyeroll: She did a rather clean stick though, no bruise so far!
