Ideas for making the last evening before baby arrives special?

OK - I've made peace with the fact that a c-section is medically the best option for baby given my medical conditions (please don't flame me). We've scheduled the section for August 24. This is my first baby and I am trying to make lemonade from lemons. Does anyone have any "last night alone" ideas. There are a few restrictions. I'm on bed rest AND pelvic rest. I'm thinking special take out but would be open to any other special baby welcoming rituals or suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Something relaxing! It's hard to calm down enough to get to sleep early on a night like that - trust me, I know. I hope your c/s isn't scheduled for 7 a.m. like mine was. :P

I would go for something low-key, like dinner, a movie, a nice hot bath, and then an early bedtime.

Do you have Birthing from Within? I think some birth art, or maybe some birth poetry (write some, or find some and read it aloud), with friends and / or your partner could help mark the occasion.

How about pampering all five senses ...

* sight: candlelight? Art? movie?
* sound: favorite music playing
* taste: favorite foods
* smell: flowers, perfume, etc.
* touch: massage, or wear or just rub a beautiful soft material (e.g., velvet scarf, silk chemise?)

going out with dh to buy something extravagant for either you, baby, or both.
