Luna Shae was born yesterday at 1:30 pm!
7lbs. 12oz. 19 1/2"
8 hours of labor, 20 min of pushing. Natural birth, partially in the water. We're doing well. Birth story and pics to follow.
Finally getting around to it, ha ha! Here is the birth story:
It was pretty quick. I got out of bed at 5am on the 6th, couldn't sleep any longer with contractions. I milled around, timed my contractions, made a big breakfast for all of us, called my midwife and my parents and woke up dh. I was feeling rushes about 4 minutes apart but figured I had time because with my last labor, they were 1.5 minutes apart for like, 10 hours. Anyhoo, I took a shower and shaved my legs, pausing every 2 minutes by this time, to breathe through a contraction. After I got out, they started getting strong and my dh loaded up the car and began to get agitated at my parents for not being there yet to get dd. Finally, they showed up and we had to scoot to the midwifery pronto. I rode the entire hour stradling a pillow on my hands and knees in the front seat with the seat belt buckled behind my back. Once we got there, the ctx hit hard and fast. My sister, who is also my doula, got there and it all started progressing super quick. I was dialating an average of 3 cm an hour. I got in the birth tub for awhile to try to slow things a little and take the pressure off. It worked for a little while, then I had to get out because I was feeling overheated. After I got back on the bed, my midwife broke my water and I had to start pushing because the super strong and fast ctx were stressing the baby. Her heart rate was questionable, so I pushed and screamed like a wild banshee for 20 minutes. She flew out into her daddy's hands, who handed her to me and promptly left the room to have a good cry. Bless his heart. She was fine except for being really mucousy, but we got all of that out. Honestly, she was pretty funny looking at first, but her face rounded out and became really beautiful within about an hour. She looks so different from her sister, who is pale and blonde like I was before my hair turned. This one has olive skin and dark hair like her daddy. I imagine her eyes will most likely be blue or hazel. She will undoubtedly be a real knockout! Not that I'm the least bit biased.
