Pre-Eclampsia Complications

Ladies,
I was wondering if anyone knew about complications that can follow a pre-eclamptic pregnancy. My friend was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia 4 weeks before delivery and severe eclampsia by the time she went into labor. She gained 60 pounds during her pregnancy and now ten weeks later she has lost almost all of it. BUT - she wakes up each morning and has pins and needles in her knees and feet for an hour. She was having serious leg pains her last month of pregnancy (due to the massive amounts of swelling), but now even with the weight gone she is hurting a lot.

Any ideas what is causing this?!?

Thanks!

How is her blood pressure now? Has she had postpartum lab work (for her kidney, liver, and cardiac function)?

Hmmmm.... I don't know. Maybe the sever swelling damaged some of the nerves. Nerves take a long time to repair themselves. Does she sleep with a pillow between her legs? She could try that if she doesn't. Could she see a chiropractor? Maybe there's a disc out of alignment and it somehow gets aggravated when she sleeps. Is she co-sleeping? Maybe she's not moving a whole lot while sleeping and there's poor circulation in her legs. Just some random thoughts...

I think the chiro is a really good suggestion -- it sounds like she needs to check in with her doc also, especially to test bp and other tests if she has not had them yet. Thanks for the input!
