I'd love it if the Dads forum got a little more active. I'm a father to a relatively newborn boy.

Anyone else around here a new daddy?

Thanks. And he's already stopped sleeping a lot during the day. I mean he takes his naps, but they're usually for only about 30-45 minutes.

Does a would-be new step-dad of five teenagers count as "a new daddy"?

No diapering experience here, but I feel like I'm taking advanced courses in homework, dating, and transportation issues right off the bat. :

I would say that it qualifies you to be a new dad!

I have four kids, my youngest about to turn 2. My oldest is about to become a teenager...scary I also wish this forum was more active...

Thoughts on what can be done to "activate" it a bit more?

Topic ideas?

I'm here, not a completely new daddy (3 y/o daughter, 2 y/o son, and due in Feb/Mar 08), but I'm still pretty new to the game.

I've been an at-home dad since my daughter was six months, so I'm getting a lot of time in quickly.

I'm a new dad to a nine month old daughter. I'm a SAHD so it's a whole new world for me. I'd also love to see the dads forum a little more active. Congrats by the way!

My little guy is 3 months and two weeks now.

He's really becoming a drooler. I hate drool. :

Any dads looking to teach their kids a foreign language? I want my son to learn Portuguese.

I'm hoping to teach my kids (3,2,0) Spanish. I speak 'caveman' Spanish, in that I know a lot of words, but not so much how to put them together.

I've heard pretty good things about Muzzy. I'm hoping to use car time for listening to CDs with Spanish language lessons.

Muzzy is still around! Wow!

Haha, when I was a kid I always wanted to get one of his tapes to learn French.

Do any papas do night-time feeding or are you all fortunate to breast-feeding DWs?

I have taught my boys some of basic words in Portuguese also! Nothing conversational....It is more difficult since my wife doesn't speak it.

I would like to be albe to teach them more. Some times I 'll just talk to them in it, the older ones just look at me funny and ask "is that portuguese"? My youngest seems to enjoy it.

My wife still BFs our youngest at night, he is almost two. I think I she is hoping he night weans soon b/c his favorite game is to switch sides every five minutes, which naturally drives her crazy. I have a feeling when night weaning time comes, I will take over night times. Not feeding, but putting back to sleep, etc. I used to drive one of the other boys around at 3am to put him back asleep...that wasn't much fun.

My wife BFs, but when my daughter was 6 months old and DW's milk supply dropped (due to the new pregnancy) I took over with bottles. Not my idea of fun, not at all, but it had to be done. Bottles at 2am are tricky on the brain.

Apparently I am now, daddy. Tata has fallen out of favour with my eldest. It's all the darned media, I tell ya. You just don't here or read about anyone calling their dad, Tata. Anyway, I am one! Yes! More active! More exciting! Risk-ay! discussions! Sillyness!

Sou metade Brasileiro...in a manner of speaking. I grew up in Brasil--from the ages of 4-16. As they say in Brasil, tenho papeis Americanos, mas um coracao Brasileiro.

I am really what they are now calling a third culture kid/adult. I am not a part of the cultural background of my parents (American), nor am I a native of the culture I grew up in, though that is more "home" for me. Therefore I am a product of a third culture...one of my own making. Yes, I am certifiably confused!

Anyway, I consider myself Brasilian. I desperately want to take my family back and let them experience what I did growing up. In time I guess.

Are you Brasilian or Portuguese? I know there are some Brasilian Mamas on here, don't know if there are any other Portuguese?

Anyway...my story :-)

Ill be active, but I'm not quite a dad. As of yesterdays appointment, at week #33 our son is doing great. Everything looks normal, good weight, and living quarters are getting cramped..

Delivery will be by C-section 1 week 2 days earlier than the 40 weeks.

Very much looking forward to this new life adventure.

Hello Papa's.

Glad to see some much activity. I wanted to give a shout out from Portland, Oregon. We have started a PDX Papa's Place (Regional thread for Papa's to network). It has been slow to take off but is gaining lots of support from the regional mammas.

Anyway, I'm subbing to this thread so we can have national (global????) outreach!

First and foremost, I see myself as a parent rather than a "papa" (in spite of my nick) and, to be honest, there is more interesting stuff going on elsewhere in MDC.
