My midwife and OB are watching my platelet count; 116,000 in early pregnancy, 111,000 2 wks ago and was just redrawn yesterday. The doc wants me to start steroids if drops below 100,000. I believe she is worried about ITP - auto-immune disorder. Anyone have experience w/ this? I've tried to google steroid use in late pregnancy - but really didn't come up w/ anything.
I am 38.5wks, Gra 2, planning on a unmedicated VBAC in hospital w/ a CNM and doula. I don't want to take the steroids if unnecessary, potentially harmful to baby or something that may complicate my desire for a natural birth.
