Postpartum bleeding ?

So, I've been bleeding now for almost 8 weeks. Bright red and moderately heavy for the first 4, then it lightened and almost stopped around week five, then cramping and moderately heavy for the last 3 weeks (like, mid period bleeding - alternating dark and bright red, small clots. It will slow down for a day, then start up with raging cramps like the first day of my period again... I don't see the dr. until next week - Is this normal? Should I be concerned? (I did call his office but he's on vacation)

This is my second child and the first was nothing like this...

Please, anyone with some input? The cramps are very bad today and getting progressively worse (i'm about in tears right now)
and no one at my dr's, my family dr's, or my ob's vacation replacement.

Oh goodness, I hope you're Ok. I was about to post that I bled for a while with my first, but it definitely wasn't gushing blood or clots at 8 weeks.
