Hey thats what my 3 yr old learned last year at storyland! she learned all about lines and well she didn't like them much, but hey who can blame her

Yeah it is sickening : Heck I remember doing lots of play when I was in Kindergarten. The more I think of it the more I am committed to homeschooling my girls.

wow this is sad

I am here in Canada, but the kindergartens in my town here don't seem to be that strict in the academic area. And what do they mean by "read" anyway. Certainly not what I consider true reading (smoothly, easily with true comprehension). I think alot of it at that age may be sight words, etc. But c'mon, writing PARAGRAPHS??? My hand just hurts thinking of writing that much at that age.

That being said, it is sad to see the Ultimate Standard of what They deem a kid "should' be applied at the age of 5! Dd has a friend the same age, and ! MONTH into school - gr 1 (she is in a different division) she was in a remedial reading class, and considering herself stupid : !!! I know that dd at going into gr 2 age would be in one of those classes this year, but she has made her own "progress" compared to last year, and does not by any means realize she is "behind" and feeling dumb! (and behind what, I don't know!)

Hmmm, well that must mean all the people I encounter in my daily life didn't go to kindergarten cuz they sure don't like to queue...they sort of cluster. LOL

Laughing aside, this is really got to be the most ridiculous argument ever.

This is so true! All the adults seem to cluster, and more than a few are more than happy to cut in front of you if they can get away with it.

Also, all those drivers who wait until the last minute to merge...you know, the ones who drive as far as they can before cutting in front of the line to exit onto the off-ramp. So I suppose ALL these people never went to Kindergarten.

OMG!!! I think forming a line is an instinct! Afterall, most insects run purely off of instinct, their brain isn't really functional beyond that, and they form lines! Geesh.
