1st birth- 20 hours of not-so-bad labor. Lots of feeling like I should be "progressing". Then my water broke and it was maddness, intense, scary, (I actually tried to run away but my mom and midwife held onto me

)and 2.5 hours of pushing, husband terrified. Pushed too hard at the end and tore kinda bad.
2nd birth-14 hours of not-so-bad labor. Nurses felt like I should be "laboring" a little more or something. Water broke, dilated from 5 to 10 in three or four contractions, pushing my baby out in 30 min., total intensity but not scared, husband awesome and supportive, remembered to go slow at the end, tore only a little, the best natural high ever.
So sometimes I think your body works in its own labor pattern and you can see them in hindsight. I didn't worry the second time about "not progressing" because I knew my body better. But when my water broke I thought, "Oh, lordy! Here it comes!"
