Please suggest a good "how to" book for home/un-school newbie...

Haven't had a chance to look for any pp's about this but
does anyone have any suggestions for books on how to start homeschooling/unschooling?
I saw a book at half price books dealing with the first year of homeschooling but I figured I'd ask around to see which books might be recommended before buying that one.
My DS is 8 mos and although I am a teacher (music) I'd like to try to homeschool him as much as I can but I have no idea how to start. I know there are tons of websites out there to peruse but I'd really like a starter book to have as a reference.
Any help would be appreciated!

O Lillian wherer are you?!?!??!?

Check out Lillian J's website (beat ya to it Lillian!)

http://www.besthomeschooling.org

you could probably be there for days and days!

As far as books, check out The First Year of Homeschooling Your Child (I think this is what it is called) by LInda Dobson, or any of her books for that matter, also the Homeschooling Handbook by Mary Griffith, she also has an Unschooling Handbook as well.

Yes, there are lots of good, popular resources for an introduction.

A good read is Linda Dobson's book, Homeschooling the Early Years. Another really good one is The Unschooling Handbook, by Mary Griffith - that one is packed with ideas of how the world can be thought of as your child's classroom. Also, Marty Layne's book, Learning At Home: A Mother's Guide to Homeschooling. Although most of us, and those authors, don't feel a need to think about "homeschooling" until a child is a lot older - because just basic good parenting will fill all the much younger child's needs - but maybe that's what you have in mind.

You might also peruse some of the articles on my (non-commerical) preschool/kindergarten page - and underneath them are annotated links to lots of websites that have fun ideas for activities with little ones.

Yes, you did - but only because I was interrupted by a phone call in the middle of writing my response! - Lillian
