a book that is full of starting points/ideas for stories, letters, lists, etc. for a beginning writer (age 7). I don't want something that is set up into "do this, then this" kind of lessons, if you know what I mean.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

My ds used to like a book called Sketch and Scribe. The top half of the page would have an incomplete sketch for him to finish, say, a picture of a shelter, and then it would ask something like, "What lives here?" and he could write/dictate a story about what he created in the picture. It was a bit like the uncoloring books series.

Those are great books! I was looking for books like for my 8 yo. I ended up printing freebies off the internet, but I like the Sketch and Scribe book a lot better than the pages I found on the 'net. Thanks for sharing!
