Off to deliver... NOT (Updated)

Hey, just letting ya'll know that I MIGHT be in early labor, and because of the weekend traffic and all, my midwife wants me to head into town early. So, we have a hotel booked and hopefully I'll REALLY go into labor sometime tonight or tomorrow!

Right now contractions are 5 minutes apart and pretty mild. But with a 3 hour drive ahead of us, I don't want to take chances!

I'd like to say I'm excited, but mainly I'm worried that it's false labor and we'll be out the $300 for hotels.

8-12-07 evening

I'm back home. After the contractions got less frequent and less painful, the MW checked and nothing was happening with my cervix. Grrr! So, it was just some painful BH ctx that didn't accomplish anything.

AND my baby is posterior! Which might be why the weird contractions. So I have to do some exercises to get him flipped back around. Ack. What a crappy weekend.

good luck! This is what we did with DD, and spent a night or two in a hotel. My advice to you to avoid a transfer to the hospital is to make sure you stay hydrated, and sleep between contractions if you can. And walk, walk, walk. I had a hard time staying hydrated, and it was one of the reasons they transferred me. So, guzzle what you can even if you don't feel like it!!

Update

They're the same!!! After some sleep last night my contractions are still happening, but not really getting stronger or closer together. My MW has told me to get a high protein breakfast, then take a walk and do an hour of nipple stimulation.

So, I'll be off to do that soon. I'm just hoping for PAIN! I want to get this show on the road.

What a tease! I know you're bummed. I was afraid of the same with my labor, we had a drive as well. Next time, it'll be for real. Keep doing those excercises!

That sounds sooo much like what happened to me! I started having mild ctx on Monday at 5am, got checked at mw and nothing was happening, then they all but stopped. They started up mildly again around 3 in the afternoon. That night, dh and I had sex, then i went to the washroom and a big glob of bloody mucous came out! I went to sleep, then at 1:30 am the ctx were too strong to sleep thru so I got up and watched tv with dh. We paged the mw at 4:30am and met her at hospital at 5:20. DD was born that afternoon at 4:14!

So go for a walk, do the nipple stimulation, have sex, your baby is coming soon!

Hang in there! It must be really frustrating. It will all be worth it in the end!
