Chicken pox

My friend's daughter has the chicken pox and she is most likely having our monthly book club meeting at her house and I am not sure if I should go. She says that it is a result from her vaccination, and I have had the chicken pox as a child, but this baby has not. Also I am non-immune to rheubella, so if it's not chicken pox I should not be around them at all.
I'm not sure what to do, any thoughts?

I'd offer to host the meeting instead, if she thinks that her dd is going to be unsettled by the illness. If you've had CP, ever, then the risk to baby is pretty minimal.
IME, it's pretty easy to tell the difference between rubella and chicken pox. One is a flat rash, one is spots. The two are caused by completely different viruses, so don't assume that because your titres consistently come back negative for rubella immunity then you're at risk for CP. FWIW, I've never tested immune to rubella, but I've only ever had it once.

Your in utero baby is protected. The chickenpox virus will not infect him or her bc you are immune.

just me but I would forgo the meeting. I'm a play it safe kind of gal though. And it is true if you have had it then the baby is supposed to be safe, but you still can get shingles even if you have natural immunity to chickenpox. I had a sister have chickenpox twice and a brother to have chickenpox, be exposed to chickenpox as a college student and come down with shingles. But that is just me.

Shingles actually lives inside you from the chickenpox virus, I believe. I'm pretty sure it's a "reactivation" of the virus, so to speak? Maybe wrong wording, but that's why someone with chickenpox immunity can come down with it. I think. LOL

Oh shingles? Ick! SO much to consider being a parent. I remember the days when it was me and the cat. Ahhh.... However it's not like I would ever trade away my baby.
