Can PPD Hinder Milk Production?

I just took the PPD test up in the stickey, and scored a 76. I have been breastfeeding for 2 weeks (my son is 8 weeks old) and my milk WAS coming in nice, but all of a sudden it seems to be dwindling to nothing. I know I need help,I feel like such a failure, and my milk not being what it should is making it worse.
My son was born 5 weeks early due to placenta previa & an abruption,I lost a lot of blood and he was hospitalized for a week 6 days later,we almost lost him. The day he was born, I lost most of my poultry flock due to poisoning, and then my beloved dog Isaiah disappeared the week after the baby came home from the hospital. We are broke. I have 2 older children,& this is really affecting me... husband is no help, just stares at the TV.
What should I do? Contact my OB? Any advice?

I would try and find a lactation consultant to help you. BM has to do with your blood, and perhaps you are needing iron supplementation to help boost your blood and therefore your milk. What makes you think your supply is low? How many wet diapers a day are you changing? How many poops?

I would contact your OB and then try and find a lactation consultant or LLL leader who could help you with breast feeding. The best way to get supply back up is to PUMP AND NURSE. A lot.

It may feel like you have less milk because you are no longer engorged, which is a good thing.

Anxiety can hinder milk production, so if you have that as a component of your PPD, then certainly it could be a factor. But stressing over lack of milk is not good either, you can create a vicious cycle.

You may be on to something w/ my iron being low. I lost a lot of blood (had to be given 4 units) w/ the birth,I'll begin taking my iron suppliments again. The reason I think my milk supply is low is that he is not getting full, he'll nurse and get really frustrated when nothing comes out. I can't even hand express a drop at times. We are still supplimenting w/ formula, which he promptly spits up. I will contact my OB tomorrow.
