Wet Felting help!

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I am hosting my kids' crafters group tomorrow and I had planned on having the kids make felted balls. I tried some samples myself, and they are not working out. They look like brains, with bits that don't stick together properly. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, and direct me to some place that gives proper instructions?
TIA.

There are a couple of things you can try. You can try using a core like a bouncy ball or a Styrofoam ball. It will give you something to wrap the wool around. Than remember that you are going to roll this around in your hand to make the fibers connect. It takes time and you need to be patient, DON'T SQUEEZE! The ball will be much denser when you are done so it will feel heavy.
Use HOT water or as hot as you can handle and rinse with cool water. Also, olive based soaps seem to work better
HTH,
Rebecca
