PUPPP Help!

So I posted this in the I'm Pregnant forum, and had it suggested that I post here too. I've got PUPPP and am going out of my mind. Any suggestions?

My family doctor (who is my pregnancy doctor) prescribed Sarna, twice a day, I've been using Johnson's Anti-Itch gel, taken oatmeal baths and yesterday started taking Dandelion Root and Flaxseed Oil. Any other suggestions? I'm so glad this didn't hit until 38 weeks!

No other ideas at all. Does anyone know how much Dandelion root would help? I've heard everything from 2 a day to 6 a day.

Oh, sorry you are dealing with this. Here is a website about it: http://members.optushome.com.au/west...ppp/index.html

I've heard that taking too much iron (like in prenatals) can cause PUPPPs. I have no personal experience though. My friend had PUPPPs and her midwife recommended either switching to not taking her prenatals and it went away.

Have you stopped using deodorant and anything containing perfumes(including laundry detergent). I had PUPPPS and I couldn't go into a candle shop, wear deodorant or use laundry soap other than the free and clear stuff. Also, any cleaning chemicals in your house might affect it. You should have your carpets cleaned with steam, no chemicals. If you have any surface that is scotch guarded that will act it up. Double rinse your laundry and ask for samples of lotions or cleansers at the dermatologist office (they have too many and will give them without an appointment if you are nice to the receptionist). If you want to buy one, Cetaphil works wonders. The dandelion root did help. The idea is to cleanse your liver, so don't do anything to upset that balance. I hope this helped, I have been there and I do understand. I think I was 32 weeks though. So, count your blessings and I hope this helped.

OH mama, I feel for you! I had it in my last pregnancy and thought I was going to go crazy!

I used a combination of witch hazel drizzled over it, then rose hydrosol sprayed on it, then wait to dry. After dry, I massaged raw shea butter over it for over night. It really helped! Eventually it went away and by the time I birthed I only had scars left over.

You can get everything from www.mountainroseherbs.com

good luck mama!
