Healing Vibes Please! ** scared of update, post #11

Any positive energy you can send me I would really appreciate. I've been fighting a cold that has been killing me with the coughing fits. It started with the aching diaphragm, and then moved to the aching back when I coughed. Then tonight I heard a pop and I'm in so much pain I want to cry. I can't lay in any position. I can't prop myself with pillows because any pressure on my back makes me want to scream. I think I'm going to have to sleep sitting in a dining chair with leaning forward on the table.

I need to get over this cold tonight, so I can stop coughing and then I need my back to heal asap. I'm due in one week and I can't handle labor like this.

Thanks in advance

Maybe acupuncture or acupressure? I seriously pulled a muscle in my back during a karate belt exam years ago, and the sensei (also an acupunturist) applied a little device that put some little zapping charge or heat or something on the spot of the pulled muscle and it got me moving again.

Then, some time later that same year I sneezed and pulled the same one again (guess it was still vulnerable). I remember that I couldn't stand up. Had to crawl across the floor to a chair and I sat there until my boyfriend (now my husband) got back ... I was supposed to have been on my way back to the city, but I couldn't move!

I think he must have massaged the muscle until I could move again.

Sounds like you might have pulled a muscle, so maybe a massage, or acupressure would loosen you up to where it can heal. Maybe your midwife can recommend somebody?

I had that same cold -- it started out with sore throat, ears, sinus congestion and has since moved into post-nasal drip and coughing. I was really worried a week ago that I would go into labor like that. i want all of my strength for the biggest physical challenge of my life! my mw reassured me that my body would not naturally start labor without healing first. Phew.

Thank everyone. I put in a call to a recommended Chiropractor and we'll see if she can take me today.

Back from the Chiropractor. She thinks I may have fractured a rib. I really am afraid of labor with broken rib. Anyone have any good stories to share?

Sorry to hear that. I don't have any advice but wanted to send some good thoughts your way.

Nothing concrete to add, just sending good thoughts and positive healing energy. Hope you soon feel much better. Hang in there.

I hope it is less serious than that. That is scary to imagine.

Hey there,

Got the same cold a week ago...pulled a ton of muscles in my ribs from the coughing. Couldn't even move my left arm or hand it hurt so much. I gave birth on Monday, with the pain in the ribs. Honestly, didn't even notice it. And since then the pain is almost gone. It made me think that some of the pain was pregnancy related too.

But just wanted to let you know, you can get through labor even if you still have it.

Sorry, I don't have any good stories, but maybe you can talk with your MW about a non-pushing approach to the pushing phase. If your rib is cracked I can't imagine pushing feeling great and your body could do a lot of the work on its own, it would just take longer.
s and healing
