I like the ones from here- www.dancingraindolls.com if you are looking for a classic Waldorf type. Amy will help you through it. She sells a premade head, too which I think makes it a lot easier for a beginner. Stay away from the jointed limbs, too. I think these are harder.

I recomend taking a class, if you can. There are a lot of methods and tips that aren't explained well in print. An instructional DVD might be very helpful, if you can't attentd a class. I have heard good things about this one-
http://www.sarahs-dolls.com/index.html I have seen copies of it for sale on Ebay, as well. I have heard good things about Sarah's patterns, as well. Good luck with itm and happy dolling!

Easy dolls

I really love Joys waldorf dolls ( http://www.joyswaldorfdolls.com ) I ordered the heavy baby kit and it is very easy to follow their directions, and they are BEAUTIFUL!! They also have a DVD for sale, a how- to dvd.

I made the Sweet Cheeks kit from Magic Cabin for dd. It was my first doll and I definitely learned a lot. She hasn't played with a whole lot, so I've just made her smaller sock dolls since then. She really likes them and they work up quickly.

I'm not sure exactly which type of doll you're looking to make, but I think that bunting baby or star baby is the easiest type to start with-they have the simple velour bodies and usually have a cute hat with sime wisps of hair rather than a full wig. If you check out my blog entry here, I link to a free bunting baby pattern and tutorial. I also link to several popular Waldorf doll sites that sell patterns, helpgul resources, etc.

Great ideas. I've been dying to make a heavy baby, so I think that I'll make one of my young dd for Christmas. I'm nervous about making a doll too. I think I"ll get a premade head too. That is what scares me most:
