Thank you gift for midwife?

This is sort of a weird question, but I thought I'd just throw it out there just in case someone had an opinion.

My husband and I had such a great experience with our midwife and wanted to show our appreciation with a thank you gift. I was just curious if any midwives out there (or any of you actually) had any suggestions, especially for something that might be useful during a long, difficult homebirth (as mine was ) that she might remember us by (in a fond way, of course). Or any suggestions at all. I'm sure we'll figure something out but I thought it couldn't hurt to poke around for suggestions.

Thanks!

Hmmm....well, being comfy in your clothing is a must during a long birth, so maybe a nice warm and soft sweater or shawl or even a fantastic pair of sock/slipper type foot wear...warm and comfy.

Some of the best thank you's I've received were gift certs for pampering, like a massage or dinner.

You are wonderful for thinking of doing this

Oh, sweater/shawl is a great idea. We wanted to do a massage but I've yet to find a good massage therapist here and I like the idea of a tangible gift that she'll have for years to come.

Thanks!

Well, I had to think for a little bit of some things I would enjoy. If you know where she shops, a gift card is always nice. My clients know I usually show up carrying a panera or starbucks coffee!

I would always like the willow tree figurines, nice poems or photos or birth art, handmade stuff (like quilts, wall hangings, soaps, teas, canned or frozen foods), a donation to her favorite charity or midwife organization.

Very thoughtful of you!

I fished around and asked my midwife where she and her assistant got supplies. She told me a couple of companies I had never heard of and then said she sometimes got suturing supplies off Ebay...bingo! Ebay certificates

I didn't get something that would necessarily be useful during labor, I believe we got out mw a gift cert to our natural food market b/c I knew that was up her (and our) alley.
