Domperidone + missed night feeding = plugged ducts

So, I started the domperidone last week. I have been taking it after eating, but RootSnort said to try it before eating so I haven't decided exactly how I am going to use it yet. I took some last night, went to bed. Yahootie did not feed on my right side as much I guess and now this morning I have a plugged duct.

So, should I continue taking it or wait until the plugged duct is gone? Oh and it is so painful.

This is one of the biggest reasons why I stopped taking Domperidone. The plugs were AWFUL. I suggest getting off it until you get rid of the plug. Otherwise, it may become exacerbated.

Hang in there; I know it's horrible, but (hopefully) it will pass. All mine have (so far), and I've had over fifty of them at last count (I've been EP'ing for over a year). Some of the plugs I've had have been extremely memorable, and not in a good way.

Sounds painful. Have you read kellymom on plugged ducts? Have you tried lecithin?

My understanding is that the timing in relation to eating isn't relevant when taking Domperidone for milk supply issues. It does matter when taken for digestive issues, which is the on label use.

For lactation, timing is less of an issue, but more than an hour before breastfeeding is supposed to give the best results.

It's true, take it whenever it works for you, the important thing is to remember! I take it with food because with prenatals and such, when I think food, I am now conditioned to think pills. When it's used as a prokinetic agent, people take it before meals, but you can take it any time.
