Announcing by email?

DH and I haven't shared our news with anyone but a few close family members and friends. We just passed the 12-week mark yesterday (woohoo!), so this weekend we're planning to spread the news.

We're going to call a few family members and close friends to share the news, but for the rest we were going to do a mass email.

But...is that a lame way to do it? I'm thinking that it's probably more satisfying to tell people in person and see their reactions, right?

We didn't announce it to most people. I felt kind of lame calling people to tell them we were pregnant. I hate things being all about me, and pregnancy sure is. I'd use e-mail as a great way to tell lots of people, all at once, without dealing with it myself. Or, we just told our parents and siblings and my g-ma, and let them tell everyone else.

We did email. It was fun!!! We had a photo of the family on the boardwalk, with the words New camera: $200 Photo on the boardwalk: $5 Your face when you realize there are 5 of us in this photo: PRICELESS. Everyone loved it!!!

I did a few by e-mail, it was fun. I just sent the u/s picture with a "this is why I was too crabby to go to the 4th of July parade" excuse to a couple of my cousins! It was fun!

I'm going back and forth - I have a baby shower to attend on Sept 8 for a friend, and there will be a lot of people there I see occasionally. I'd kind of like to just surprise everyone... but I don't want to steal the Main Event Mama's thunder. Email seems like it would be less grandstanding.

I LOVE Amy's picture idea
