I'm mostly a lurker, but just wanted to post that my Aug babe is out! I'm a little belated in telling the news, she came home on Saturday but we have been enjoying our babymoon. I hope to have a full-fledged birth story coming soon.
She was born at 1:48pm on Saturday the 11th after about 24 hours of mild labor at home and a bit over 3 hours at the hospital. I ended up laboring/delivering without a doula as she had car issues and the back-up doula wasn't in right then (labor went faster than expected once it got going!). Had a beautiful natural labor experience with great German midwives to help out. Spent my last 3 contractions of transition in an aromatherapy tub (oh, the water was great!) but went too quick to get the actual birthing tub filled so had to have a land-birth on a birthing stool. My DH was such a blessing and was a great source of strength and comfort during labor.
Kalea was born in the caul after about 10 minutes of pushing and we snuggled for what seems like ages before clamping the cord, weighing/measuring, etc. She nurses great and is so much more laid back than my DS was as a baby. She was about 6lb 7oz and 20.5" long, we got to leave the hospital after 2 hours to spend our first night at home.
Although the birth came about faster than I expected and we didn't have a doula or waterbirth, it was still a wonderful healing experience after my negative birth with DS (induced for pre-e, very medicalized).
