Ok, I have had two fairly good pregnancies and then #3 hit like a tidal wave. I am 15 weeks and have so far had:
Food poisoning
Trip to the ER for fluids
A week long hospitalization for anxiety and depression
Trip to urgent care for fluids
Trip to midwife for fluids
Diagnosis of hyperemesis
Switching to a high-risk OB to manage the hyperemesis better
Failed attempt on a zofran pump
Hospitalization for fluids
Another hospitalization to get a PICC line for fluids and TPN after losing 15 pounds in a week
A root canal
Another hospitalization from a blood infection due to the root canal
A blood transfusion during that stay when my blood count plummeted
Now I am home and actually feeling ok. I am taking a ridiculous amount of antibiotics to wipe out the infection and now I have oral thrush. So today I added massive amounts of probiotics to my regimen and probably an oral rinse to kill the yeast if my doc agrees.
I am not a "glass half-empty" type of gal, either. Usually I am very upbeat and happy. I am stunned that I have gotten this sick. My wonderful OB (he really is great--super open minded and laid back) thinks the hyperemesis is pretty much over. So do I. I feel like I am finally returning to normal.
It makes me so thankful for my other 2 pregnancies that were a breeze compared to this one.
This is my last kid, by the way, unless we adopt.
