How long from mucous plug to baby?

We took DD to the amusement park today and walked and walked and walked. When we stopped for a drink and rest, I went to the bathroom for a (tmi) bowel movement, and popped out my mucous plug.

I'm 40w4d, so needless to say, I was thrilled to see the mucous plug!! I should probably just go to bed (it's 8 p.m.) here, because this baby is on his way out, right???? With DD I lost my plug one night, and contrax started early the next a.m. My water never broke on its own (at least after two days of prodromal labor that only got me to 4 cm).

Do you think I'll have a baby by Monday?

Well... I think that it's a good sign that your body is gearing up for labor! I've heard of women that lose the mucous plug early and still go weeks without a baby though!

For me with DS, I lost it in the night, and noticed by mid-day that I was having regular contractions. Active labor started in the wee hours of the next night.

So, maybe!

Ha! I've BEEN losing mine for at least a week.

I hope it means more for you than it does for me.

I didn't lose mine till I was in active labor. Its so variable that I don't think there is any way to predict when you will go from that!

Yep ... I went to bed last night at 9:00 so I would be rested in case I had to get up in the wee hours. No such luck, although I slept wonderfully!!

Today we actually drove up to our farm and on some of the worst, bumpiest roads around and ... nothing! Even walked up the hill to our house when we got back home (VERY steep and we're at about 4000 ft) and ... nothing. I think I may have had one contraction during the walk. But, otherwise, nothing!

Since I'm "overdue" I was hoping losing that plug yesterday would have been a more promising sign!!

You're gearing up! For me it was almost 10 days until babies came....and that was induced! But, it's probably totally different with twins. My other babies I never lost it until being in labor.

I lost mine too! Woohoo! I'm taking it as a very positive sign, because I'm "overdue" now and really don't want to deal with the BS involved in going postdates.

With DS it was pinkish-brown and more fluidy, but this time it was just a clearish-white nearly solid hunk of mucous. Ick. TMI, I know. I don't know if it means anything that it's not bloody though... oh well. I'll find out soon enough I suppose.

Same for me, no bloody show, just a big blob of (forgive the expression) snotty mucous.

Come on already, baby!
