Good condition, not expired car seats I don't need anymore

What do I do with them? I hate to just destroy them and throw them out.

They've never been wrecked, DD just outgrew them. I read on the other thread to donate to a car seat tech place. Is there anything else I can do with them?

you could freecycle them.

I freecycled my car seat. However I made it very clear that pick up had to be at the Fire station where they do Car seat installations. I had two reasons for this. First to insure the car seat would be installed and used properly. Secondly, if for some reason my car seat had been recalled or was expired because of said recall, the people at the fire station wouldn't install the seat.

HTH.

Really? I could freecycle them and not have liability concerns?

I always figured that no one would take them since everywhere you hear don't buy a used car seat!

people take all sorts of stuff.

I personally would never *use* a freecycled seat, but I have no problem passing them along.

Please don't freecycle them. It sets a bad precedent for people who don't know/understand carseat expiration/prior accident stuff.

I would find someone I specifically know needs a carseat and explain to them exactly when the seat expires.

This is what I do! I see so much carseat misuse within my own family/circle of friends, it's never hard to find an appropriate home. I offer to "lend" it. And I make a note to myself of when it expires and then I call and ask for it back!
