clutch/football hold question..

I started out nursing Jamie in this position because I have large breasts and it was just much easier when he was a newborn. I try every once in a while to feed him in the cradle hold and lying down and it just doesn't work at all! He is 4 months old now and only maybe three times have I been successful at getting him to eat in a different position. Usually it takes a lot of effort but eventually we get it together.

Will it get easier as he gets older to use the other positions? Mostly I would like to nurse in the cradle hold because he has a lot of dr's appts and they all have really long waits. He always gets hungry while we are there and NIP would be so much easier if he could nurse in a position other then football. TIA for any tips or help with this.

are you guiding your breast with your free hand? i had the same issue with the middle child...with the new one i have learned to put his head not at the bend of my elbow but way down on my forarm...it does get better as they get older

I say you just have to keep practising. DS hates the cradle hold in think in part because we never practise it. If your breasts are really large, though, you may have to hold your breast while he eats. I have to.
