What do I need to make a wet bag?

What kind of materials could I use to make some wet bags? Are there any recycled materials that I can use? Is there a specific pattern or do I just make a bag? Do you prefer tying them shut or putting in zippers? Anything else that I am forgetting?

Please Help!

I use whatever fabric I want with a zipper and procare. You could also use pul as the inner layer, but I prefer these to pul or fleece. I really like zippers best because they wash well and hide the smell better than velcro. I don't use a pattern. I just cut a rectangle out of the fabric and out of my procare. I seam the sides and attatch the zipper. Just do the inner layer like lining with all the seams hidden.

Depends on how fancy you want it, and how much time you want to spend on the project.

My favorite way to make a wetbag is with a hidden PUL (waterproof) liner, a cute fashion outer, and a hidden zipper.

I use this tutorial pattern for a lined, zippered pouch. I just use my zipper length as my guide for the length of one side, and size the other dimension according to what I need. I've made all sizes, from lil'-one-diaper-outing size to great-big-goin'-on-a-weekend-trip size, LOL.

Thank you so much for the link to that tutorial! That should work quite nicely, since I need to sew a couple of wetbags in varying sizes, and I got this super-cute Hippo fabric to use as an outer at, of all places, IKEA.

I've used this tutorial for zippered PUL wetbags.

Thanks for posting that tutorial, ultconsumer! I just made one, it took all of about 5 minutes! I'm so excited, because I've been using a ziploc bag (bad, I know.. ). It was my first time sewing a zipper (without a zipper foot), and it doesn't look half bad! Thanks so much!
