"Am I a weird parent?"

This weekend, I was at the IL's and I was thinking about some of the posts I read here. My MIL is a very sweet woman, and always very polite, but a lot of you seem to have problems with IL's and mothers. So I wondered: does my MIL think I'm odd, but she's too polite to say anything? and I asked her. "Do you think I'm a weird parent?"

She was taken aback by this and said "No, I think you're a great parent! Why on earth would you even ask?" *hehe* Even though I do things differently from the way she did them, she's totally cool with my parenting style. She says that it really shows how much I love Eli and she's glad her grandson is so well cared for. Awww! It just made me feel warm and squishy inside. *hehe*

Yeah! =) Sounds like you got a good guy and a good family! =)

My MIL is very supportive too. The one who is least supportive is the mom who raised me (step). Ah well.

wow ! Good for you for asking. I asked someone something once and wasn't prepared for the answer I got--so I learned never to ask if I didn't really want to know!!

Good For You

I think it's great you have a good relationship with your MIL! It's funny... my MIL totally agrees with our AP lifestyle, where my Mom thinks it is "too much work."

On the other hand - my MIL thinks I am too strict with my kids and my Mom thinks I'm not strict enough and should punish my children more often. I think the reason my MIL thinks I am so strict is because of how well behaved they are (I should really say "he" because my youngest is only 12 weeks old!).

Anyway... it's too bad more people aren't as accepting as your MIL!

My IL are awesome. Of course even if we did something they didn't like they wouldn't say anything because it isn't their business.

My parents were great until ds turned 1 and then all of a sudden they expect me to treat him like a kid not a baby..... parents....
