8 month old doesn't want solids anymore

My son started eating solids around 5.5 months; it was earlier than I wanted to start, but he was ready and eager and loved it. He did really well until this week.. Now all of a sudden he doesn't want to eat anymore. He's got no interest in anything but nursing. He had been eating 2 "meals" or so of solids a day, but now he'll take maybe two bites and then want to nurse. And that's if he takes the spoon at all! I don't have a problem with nursing him all the time, I'm just wondering if this is a normal thing.. I mean, he really seemed to enjoy solids and now he just doesn't care. He doesn't seem sick, but I'm a little worried.

I don't think there is any need for worry as your BM gives him everything he needs. He may be teething and food just doesn't interest him now - not to mention having a spoon put in his mouth. I would just let it go for a while and follow his lead. Maybe occasionally offering him something off your plate on your finger.

I think this is a normal stage. Cole goes through phases where all he wants is the bottle, and sometimes he rejects the bottle and only wants solids. These flighty babies, LOL.

He is 8 1/2 months now and his latest thing is he *does not* want baby mush anymore - he is all about the table food. He'll eat anything, as long as Mommy's eating it. You might want to try giving him some small soft pieces of veggies or fruit. Cole loves little blocks of cheese, and zwieback toast.

At first I thought he wanted to feed himself, but he opens his mouth like a little birdie when I pop pieces of my food into his mouth. He's just sick of the mush. (Can't say I blame him. )

this is common. could be for several reasons. could just be a phase. wouldn't worry

You were right!! Two teeth popped up on the bottom and then he started eating again! :LOL I feel so silly for being worried about it at all . Thanks everyone :LOL Silly mamma! :LOL

Good. Even so, I want to reiterate the self feeding idea. Many, if not most, 8-9 mos love to finger feed themselves.

Many now have enough gut maturity to eat a variety of table foods that need little to no special prep. Have fun!
