acid reflux / hairy babes

I'm just wondering if anyone here can affirm the correlation. I hear that if you've had some bad acid reflux throughout the pg the baby will much more likely come with a nice head of hair.

I've had SO much heart burn/reflux I'm a little frightened that I just may birth a sasquatch - already with chest/back hair and a beard - like his poppa.
Hehe...
I think I may have read this in the mothering magazine too...

nope, I've had three pregnancies w/ lots of heartburn and none of my babies had unusual amounts of hair.

I hope that's a myth or I will be birthing Cousin It !

I think it's a wive's tale. All my babies have had a lot of hair and the only time I had heartburn in my life was this time with the twins...who yes...also had tons of hair!

I had a lot of heartburn this time and my baby was born with lots of hair. But the first time, I had no heartburn and also got a baby with lots of hair. Different sexes though, so I wonder if that makes any difference.

Lurking from September....

I had worse heartburn with dd, and she had more hair than ds - although not a ton of hair. If it holds true, this one should have more hair than ds too.

I had terrible heartburn with ds #1 and he was a bald baby. I had bad heartburn with ds #2 (not as bad, but bad) and he had a full head of hair.

Science has proved this old wives tale! (in kind of a crappy, small-sample study):
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/20/he...e90cd2&ei=5070

"In December, researchers at Johns Hopkins University conducted a study intending to put the claim to rest. To their surprise, they ended up confirming it. The study, published in the current issue of the journal Birth, followed 64 pregnant women, about 78 percent of whom reported having some heartburn. After the women gave birth, two outside observers looked at pictures of their infants and rated their levels of hair.

Of the 28 women who reported moderate to severe heartburn, 23 had babies with average or above-average amounts of hair. Conversely, 10 of the 12 women who reported no heartburn had babies with little or no hair."

Too funny!

Now excuse me while I go work my way through another roll of Tums as I await my little Sasquatch/Cousin It ...
