I can tell you my son would be! He just turned 5 this month but there is no way he would stay the night somewhere. We co-sleep and he would freak out if he had to stay somewhere else. Thats just him.

I guess I'm wondering more if it the fear of the person that they might be with (someone mentioned their MIL and I didn't know if had anything to do w/ her) or the fear of not being with you. You say he would be freaked, but what I am wondering about is *why*? =)

My dd freaked and she loves my mil. She's always been attached to her mommom and poppy, but it was still traumatic for her. She esp. didn't like waking up away from us. It really upset her.

We didn't leave dd till after she was weaned. She was around 3 when she stayed one night with her grandparents.

I, personally, wouldn't leave a still nursing child for more than one night.

The twins were 23 months. Ds was 17 mos. Both times were <24 hours to go to a must-attend out of town wedding. I'm lucky because all my kids adore my mom who came to stay. Otherwise I would have had to stay home (like I did for countless other weddings).

My son was never away from us overnight until he was 5. But I'm fairly certain we left our daughter with her grandparents when she was younger. I just cannot remember when.

I say GO FOR THE BABYMOON!!

She is not very close to MIL (normally sees her about twice a year), but MIL had been staying with us for a full month before the overnight. So she was pretty used to her.

It was about not having mom or dad. She tried to stay at a friend's house that night (who's family she knows *very* well, and she completely trusts....actually, they are an MDC family ), but that was a no-go as well. She just isn't ready to be away from mom and dad yet .
