My good advice for the week....

I was joking with a lady that my 11 month old likes to bite (as he was biting me) She decided that she needed to tell me how to stop that. She told me that by about 14mos I need to bite him back when he bites me and then let him cry and hold him and tell him I love him :

My next good advice was I was joking with a friend that my 2.5 year old thinks he dosn't have to listen b/c he is the boss. To which she reply's well you just need to spank him harder. I turned away and ignored her and she goes oh, You arn't anti-spanking? ARE YOU?

It didn't suprise me that both of these people go to my church, Seriously what ARE they trying to teach us:

Ugh, I'm sorry. I hate hearing stuff like that. I had someone tell me to bite back too. I think the look on my face told it all. I also had someone tell me that I had to teach dd who was 'boss' regarding sleeping when she was *4* months old. Uhhh, yeeeeeaaaah right. She said, that all of HER kids were sleeping by that point so.....as if the rest of the worlds population should be going by what HER kids do?!?! And this is the woman who teaches the parenting class at our church. I seem to get the worst gems of advice from church goers or other Christian people. So sad. We are the ones who are called to be the most merciful, the most gracious, the most gentle. Yet here we are treating our children like less than a dog. Ugh. Terrible.
