Castor Oil

Obviously not GD LOL, but I was watching an old Tom and Jerry with DS last night, and the little girl torturing Tom and making him be a baby threatened him with Castor Oil if he was bad. Now, I know it tastes bad and induces labor....lol...how did it fit into discipline back in the day? Make your kids have diarrhea? That seems like a punishment for me, not them!!! :

Lol. Having tried unsuccessfully to induce labor with castor oil, I can tell you it would be a punishment for both mom and child!! It was so miserable! The bottle I used had dosing for a child on it and I remember wondering, "WHo would do that to a child?" I had a lot of prelabor, so my husband and I joked that we'd know I was in labor when it got worse than the castor oil, but it never did.

I remember growing up and if we didn't eat dinner we had to have a tablespoon of Castor Oil instead. That was the choice. That being said, in all the times I opted for it, it never gave me diarrhea.
