Mastitis & Migraine??

Doe anyone know if these are linked? Tues night I started to feel a bit icky and light breast soreness, by Wed. 3am I was very sick, short of breath body aches, dizzy and a vicious headache. I rarely get headaches and never one nearly this bad. I had to be wheelchaired into my doctors office. My GP didnt seem to be all that informed about mastitis but agreed I had it and gave me abx and imitrex for the migraine. Went back today, today you can see the red wedge on my boob, gave me another rx for more imitrex and Im supposed to go back tomorrow.

This headache is awful, no longer a constant pain but it's killer when I move, cough or laugh.

Any insight?

The headache is from the fever and bacterial infection. Taking an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen will help the most as it will go for the fever and the inflammation in the breast as well.

Could you be overdoing it? Are you very tired and worn down? That is when the mastitis beast always hit me. Is there anyway you can get some rest?
Good luck to you. Mastitis is the worst!

YES! In fact, the day before my mastitis diagnosis, I went to the doctor in PAIN with a "migraine". I insisted that's all it was. Next day, the swelling, redness, pain and fever/aches/chills gave away the mastitis. Definitely were related for me (the headache did continue). I had to take percocet as nothing else worked.

Take very high dose vitamin C, which will help your body fight the infection. It's the best fix I've found for mastitis, up to and far surpassing even IV antibiotics.

The headache is part of the mastitis symptoms. Send someone to the herb shop for you and get some marshmallow root, boil it and use it for hot compresses. I have had mastitis 5 times (usually comes on when I'm trying to do to much or something very stressful happens) and this has worked better and faster than the antibiotics, started feeling better the same day as opposed to the antibiotics that took 3-4 days to start making a difference. Feel better!
