I think the pulled groin muscle feeling is usually due to over-relaxation or separation of the pubic bone. It hurts like heck. I had it during my last 2 pregnancies, and I can tell it's beginning with this one. Yuck.

What I've learned: Don't cross your legs, and don't sit in a seat that makes your knees go higher than your hips (like bucket seats in cars). I have a wedge shaped pillow thing that I keep in the car now. Omega 3 supplements help a little too. When it get really bad, I'll ask dh to put his hands on my hips and push them together -- it feels great.

The other thing I did with ds, that I'll be doing again soon, is firming my mattress. I (fortunately!) have a sleep number bed, and I usually keep it really soft, but once my hips start giving me trouble, I pump the firmness way up.

If it gets as bad with this one as it did with ds, I'll be paying a visit to a chiropracter.

My ligaments have all been achy too. Really really. I played rugby years ago for a long time and it feels like every ligament I've ever injured is coming back to haunt me. It's strange. I feel like I played a really rough game a couple days ago and the muscle pain is gone, and I'm left with the ligament pain.
It passes right?

Yeah- after baby's born. Sorry Extreme SPD can remain a problem even after pregnancy- so don't let it get that bad. Get help, see a physio, see a chiro with experience in the webster technique.

: Mine got worse after ds was born because I couldn't help but cross my legs while nursing, and I wasn't nearly as careful about posture and positioning of myself postpartum. The delightful "suprapubic pressure" I got during the birth didn't do it any good either! It eased up after awhile, but it FINALLY went away (and I mean overnight it was completely gone) when my son was a little over a year old.) I never did make the time to go see a chiro, though, so I probably could have saved myself months of discomfort.

I got up to see last night for the 190th time and I had pelvic pressure OUCHY and my hips popped. I am way to old for this pregnancy and I am only 31

I've been seeing a physical therapist twice a week at the YMCA pool. Its really been helping a lot. Unfortunately, sometimes for no reason it starts acting up like last night. I totally collapsed on top of my 9 yo. Poor thing. Good thing she knows my hips hurt me and she almost was able to duck out of the way.

I'm achy all around my hips and my butt bones. I woke up feeling like I'd spent all day yesterday sitting on a really hard chair - not the case! We must be in the second tri if this stuff is happening.

Speak for yourself I think I missed the second trimester and went straight to beached-whale, can't move, waddling, third trimester Seriously.
Being serious, do not ever stand with one foot on a bottom bunk bending forwards to reach underneath the bed when pregnant : it wasn't even my bed

I played rugby too, but only hurt a ligament (partly tore PCL) playing paintball. My understanding is that your body has only one hormonal "handle" for all its ligaments, and to soften up your symphysis pubis for delivery, it works for months in advance loosening every ligament in your body. And all you can get out of it is an extra cm or two of stretch in the pelvis when the time comes! Hurts, huh?

After delivery.

Robert,
I understand the sore hips, pelvis and round ligaments, they make sense. The sore shoulders, neck and elbows? Not fair! I honestly feel like I had a whole games worth of scums collapsing on me some days. (I was the hooker and I can't count how many times I landed face down with my arms straight out back behind me, crossed at the elbows.)

Ahhh contact sports, gotta love 'em.

Were you trying to waist-bind your props? I don't think I ever saw a hooker who preferred to bind low. I think you'd be past child-bearing age if you'd played back when the props could just bind each other over the hooker, so I'm trying to figure out how you wound up as described.
