Blocked Fallopian Tube

Hi all,
I had a dye test done awhile back and I was told that I have a blocked Fallopian tube and that I should have surgery to correct it. I am very hesitant to do this and have hoped that we would conceive without me having to have surgery. They are unsure if the blockage is from scar tissue from a previous ectopic of if it is endometriosis.

I am now thinking that if we want to have another child, then I should really just have the surgery. Time is a factor, for me. I am in my 30s.

I have read that this procedure does not always help and that the tube can close right back up.

Has anyone had experience with this?

I also want to add that I am curious if surgery is an extreme step to take. We haev tried nothing else yet and this is my Dr.'s first step.

I had a lap in June and my RE found endo blocking 1 tube and endo and scarring in the other tube as well as on my uterus. The surgery itself wasn't bad. I had it on a Friday and was back to normal on Monday.

If the dr can remove all of the endo, you usually have a 6 - 12 month frame of time where you will be endo free. But it really depends if the dr can remove the root of the endo. I'm sure it varies from person to person, though.

If your other tube is open, maybe you could try clomid or injects if you wanted to go the meds way. That way you'll have a chance of follies in both ovaries and hopefully the egg will release from the ovary with the clear tube. Although if you're going through with the meds, I'm sure your dr will want you to have the surgery to increase your chances.

I am dealing with this same issue now. I have my first appointment with a reproductive medicine specialist this week so I will try to update you as to what I learn.

I have had two previous children and no way of knowing if I had a blocked tube then. No problems conceiving. Now 12+ months and no baby. Had an HSG and discovered a blocked tube.

I am leaning towards doing nothing or possibly tryng to repair the tube. I know removing the tube is also sometimes an option but not sure if I would go that far.

Hopefully I will have some good info for you next week. This has been so hard because it is impossible to find info about different treatments, etc. good luck to you.

I also have a blocked tube. However my doctor said that there was a chance it was just spasaming during the test and it may not be blocked at all. I will be going for another test when I am able to, and perhaps at that time having it opened.

I'm subscribing because I plan to get this done as soon as I have insurance again.

I ended up not going for the 2nd procedure because of timing and I started on injectables and they worked and made my defunct ovary work (the one on the good tube)
However after the baby is born I suspect I will go and have the tube opened and start all over again.
