does anyone have this? if so,can you lactate or sussessfully nurse out of it?:

A friend in college (male) had an extra nipple, but it doesn't look anything like a real nipple. It was right in the middle between his two normal nipples and was just a small slightly raised circular patch the same color as his nipples.

Not sure if they are all like that, but if so, then no, even for women I'd suspect there's no way it could have the ductwork and whatnot needed to nurse.

ETA - Curiousity got the better of me. A quick Google Images search shows many extra nipples just below one regular nipple, and not at all functional looking.

In the research I've done, supernumerary nipples do sometimes produce milk. It depends on how well-developed it is, and that can vary from person to person.

Hope this answers your question.

Third nipple piercings, which include some great shots of very functional-looking supernumery nipples (and some that look like little mole/freckles: http://www.bmezine.com.nyud.net:8080.../third001.html

I lack any evidence of any sort of third nipple, but I have a few spots on my breasts, an inch or more away from the edge of my areola, that will occasionally leak a tiny droplet of milk when I'm very full. Without the droplet, the skin looks perfectly like the surrounding area, just tiny pores. But then, BAM, milk.

babe in arms

so this will be short...i have a third nip to the left of my right that does make milk. i've never used it for nursing as i don't want it to increase in size. dh is a piercer and really wants to pierce it. fwiw

They can happen! They can form anywhere from your armpits down to your groin. ITA about producing milk, just depends on whether there are milk glands that formed with it or not.

I've got pores around my areolae too that form a drop of milk while the baby is nursing. Seems like it happened more when they were much younger, but not so much as my milk supply evened out a bit more as they got older.

I have a third nipple under my arm. When I was pregnant and there were dark veins all over my chest, there were dark veins around that too, but it never produced any milk. It isn't all that well developed though. It looks like a small nipple without an areola.

Yep. My grandmother had a third nipple and got drops of milk from it.

I have one. It's beside my ...umm, second nipple? My midwife called it an "accessory" nipple. Some milk does come out of it--and it's leakier than my non-accessory nipples. It is kinda a pain because it was hard to find a pump that would fit around both nipples (accessory & non-) at the same time.
