How far does your dh/dp work from your house?

I have to admit.. We are extremely fortunate as dh works. 2.2miles from our apt.. But, we moved to this complex just for that reason...

It really worked wonders today, when I was having a painful moment, and he came home.. DH is management for a large retail store, so he works all different hrs, but will come home for either lunch or dinner during the day... And it's great for him to come home to burn out our 2.5yr old, as I can't right now..

It will be wonderful once the babe is here, as he can run home to give kisses or help me out..

But, in the past we've made many long commutes in NJ commuter traffic to make up for this...

Anyone else have this fortunate?

We are! DH works about 3 miles away...LOVE IT! For all the reasons you mentioned and more!

With all my other three my dh was more than an hour away by bus luckily I always went in to labor when he was home. Now his drive is about 6 minutes and he works 1/2 day on fridays so it is just great. He will be able to come home if I need him and work from home some. He doesn't get much time off (last baby he had six weeks) as he only has about a week and a half of vacation time but he gets home so much earlier and can get here quickly and come home for lunch so I think it will work out fine.

DH is about 45 miles from our house, so about an hour each way, depending on the time of day. if it is during rush hour more like 1.5-2 hrs?

good thing is that he can work from home when he wants. this week he worked from home 3 days, m, w and f.

Yeah, my man works about 45 minutes from home. He missed my son's birth because of it - but Joaquin came a month early and really fast. So this time around I will not feel about calling him home on a false alarm. I really hope that the birth happens at night or on the weekend. He can't miss this birth too. He won't.

dh's lab is about 15 minutes away, his hospital is about 20. we used to live closer, which was nice, but when we bought the house we couldn't afford anything that close so out to the 'burbs we went. thankfully he's on paternity leave for a few weeks while we settle in to a routine!

It's a 45 minute commute for dh on a very, very good day. Of course I commute at least that long too. I'm hoping it just happens when we're all home and relaxed. If I get close to due date and feel like it's coming soon I might beg dh to start his leave. If I go over again he is definitely staying home this time. Weeks 40 & 41 last time were killer.

DP works close to home, but right now is still home with us and Oscar. I NEED him home to manage the breastfeeding circus. Right now he's working from home, but this isn't normally what he's able to do. He used 3 weeks vacation, and is now using bits and pieces of his vacation when he's not actually working when he's home (which is often unfortunately).

Ha-ha! I've got you beat. Dh works from home. He'll be taking two weeks vacation when the baby's born, but he'll be only about 15 feet away from us once he starts working after using his vacation time.

His boss did ask him if he'd be willing to go on a business trip for training next week. Quite obviously, he respectfully declined.

5 minutes and we love it!

About five minutes. Thank goodness!

But we have close family too, my mom is about 5 minutes away.

Now the midwife.... she's just over an hour away

About 4 miles, all back roads, which is amazing the in the area we live (Greater DC). If he takes the car he's about 7 minutes away. If he bicycles it's about 1/2 hour.

I wouldn't trade it for the world.

my DH works a 45 min 2 bus journey from us. if i go into labour while he is at work there is no point in him coming home from work its quicker for him to go straight to the hospital we are going to. if anything goes on at homeand i need his he had to take a holiday but he cant anymore cos hes used them all up after an accident on his bike adn having no sick time left after a bad cheast infection in Janurary. he will get 2 weeks off for partenity leave but otehr wise im on my own.

About five minutes. It's great. He comes home for lunch almost every day. I think it will be especially nice when the babys here. He often rides his bicycle to work because we live so close. He's going to take two weeks off of work after the baby's born to be home with us. He's arranged to take off starting on 9/10 (my due date) until two weeks after the baby's born. If the baby comes earlier than that than he will take off earlier, and still get two weeks. But the later the baby comes the more time off he will have! I'm really looking forward to his time off and all of us being able to bond as a family.

1.5 seconds?

DH works from home right now while his office is being set up. He's often out on job sites, but usually he's right here in the front room (hogging my computer).

When the office gets running, he will be 2 km from home - I can literally see his office building from here! We're so excited for next summer, when I'll be able to head over on the bike, with the babe in a trailer, for lunch with Papa.

DH is 1 1/2 hrs from home. With the last DC he was here when I went into labor. I'm scheduled to be induced with this one, but it's 4 days before I'm due. I really have no worries because my labors are actually 13 hrs anyway .

6 hours each direction. And there is no rush hour.

dh either works from home or he is gone, flying to some other city. we have always been very fortunate. He has been a consultant forever and has always been able to be flexible in where he offices. Most of the time management would want him there reg. bus. hours but once they saw how productive he was when officing at home it became a nonissue. He has a 'real' job now and they are terrific. He will probably only have to be gone one more week and then will be home until baby is born. Then, he'll have two weeks paternity. he was able to stay home with me when I was having so much trouble at the beginning of this pregnancy. Just hope they don't try to make up for it once baby comes and start sending him all over the country.

DH works 1.4 miles from our house now, and my mom (who lives in the apartment upstairs) is about the same, so it's nice to know someone can rush home when I need them to! There was an opportunity earlier in the summer for DH to get a position in the company that would've been much higher pay but an hour or so commute--very glad at this point that it didn't pan out!

Dh works o a good day of I 75 traffic...45 minutes!!

I am worried he will miss most if not all the birth if I go while he is there.
