How many outfits for school for a young child?

I just hung up all dd's new clothes (some new gifts, some passed down) and the items left from last year that still fit.

She has 14 outfits with a few extra shirts that will match the pants she has already.

Is this too much? Just right? Not enough?

ETA: This includes all of her clothes for play too.

That's a lot! I would say that's by far enough.

I would reckon my little boy has about the same- 7 school clothes sets (he goes 3 days a week and they want three sets of back-up clothes, which he uses a lot not for potty accidents but for 'let's jump off the slide into the muddy sand box" moments), a few play things and a few nicer things not for school or play.

My 5 yr old starts kindergarten. He has no pants left from last year. Every pair he killed and they became cutoffs. I think the kid has 20 pairs of cutoffs . I bought him 4 pairs of cheapie sweatpants (I give him 1 month before all 4 have holes in them). And then 5 other pairs of assorted khaki, active pants, cords. He will not wear jeans and loves his sweats. I had to twist his arm to let me buy the other pants. I expect to be pants shopping again this fall knowing my son. I also bought 4 plain short sleeve polo shirts in various colors and 3 t-shirts. He has lots of random tees but most are ripped, stained or barely fit and I am letting him wear them at home or on weekends until they are all destroyed too. He has a couple of long sleeve tees from last year. My younger son is never going to get hand me downs at this rate. So what is that 9 pairs of pants, 10-12 shirts. On one hand it looks light a lot all piled up on his dresser waiting for school. But I know their days are numbered.

I think it also depends on how often you do laundry. But even if you wash daily or once a week, you should be covered.
