My mom and grandmother both had their first kiddos in their late 20s, and both couldn't/didn't conceive for another 6-7 years afterwards. Now that put them conceiving the second children in their 30s (35 for my mom), which is another issue, although that also was when they were finally successful. My mom I know had given up after years of TTCing and then surprisingly got preggo again. My grandmother wouldn't have had/practiced any sort of contraception, so I'm guessing that fertility was the issue.
We had our first DD last year, and got pregnant before we'd actually totally agreed that we wanted to (aka, fast). We both want another but the thought of TTC'ing for 7 years makes me... well... I don't look forward to it but I'll do whatever I have to do. We have to wait to TTC until after I graduate, and DH has started to make comments like maybe we should think about whether or not I'll be the same as the women in my family.
Can someone give me some suggestions on how I might figure out if there are actual fertility issues that might cause this type of issue? I can find more info about the situations but I don't know what to ask. I don't know what to search for. Has anyone had this type of experience? Is there something I can do to prepare myself?
TIA!!!
ETA: All the babies that have been born to the women in the family were healthy with no particular health issues. I am pretty sure my mom never had any miscarriages, but I can't get that info from my grandmother, even if she would even talk about things like that since that's not really something her generation would discuss.
