New w/ question about AIO

Hi everyone! What a great forum!

My DD is 11 weeks old and I use prefolds all day. I have been what I consider CHEATING up until this point at night with disposables because I am lazy and I hate having to turn on a light to fiddle with safety pins in the middle of the night. But just having disposables in the house made me cheat more! So I decided to get some all in ones to make my life easier.

I live in Canada and Sears carries Kushies all in ones. I got them at a great price $38 for 5. I was so excited to try them out! DD is roughly 11-12 lbs now and although the diapers seemed a little big on her I 'thought' I got a good fit. Well apparently I was wrong because I woke up to a sopping wet bed (she sleeps with us)!!! The leakage is coming from around the legs.

So whaddya think?? Do you think as she grows and her legs get bigger they will work? Do any of you use Kushies?? Do you think an unsafety pinned prefold inside of it would tighten up the leg holes?? AHHHHH! Any advice is appreciated!!!

IMO,you should try a different diaper. Kushies aren't worth the money you paid for them. Find a WAHM in Canada that sells AIO's so you dont' have to pay exchange, duty, extra shippping.

Heh heh heh...former kushies user here...notice I said former. I personally think that for the price, they work and are a decent deal, but nothing to get excited about or change your stash over to. If you have the classics, they really aren't true aios-you will need some sort of cover over them for naps and overnight, though you may do fine for day use, depending on your baby's wetting habits. They will also gap at the legs. If you have the ultras (the ones with the "rough" outer) then you've prlly noticed that they have an extremely slim hourglass fit (like a bikini cut) through the legs. These worked for my skinny minny for day use, but they NEVER contained blowouts and even during the day, I had to use doublers for extra absorbancy. When I used them for overnight, I would double them up nicely and then use an additional cover over them to contain everything inside. Then I found a better system.

I'd suggest trying to double with the prefold but then still using a cover over them to ensure baby stays dry. HTH!

I had a lot of success with Kushies and still use them when we go out. The Ultras are the TRUE AIO's and my son could wear them for hours. Of course, I tried to change him sooner, but there were a few times when he'd go 5 or 6 hours and be sopping wet when I changed him, but his clothes stayed dry.

My daughter is now wearing them when we go out and she's doing great...although I don't think she'd do well at night with them.

I'd try some of the pocket diapers, like Fuzzi Bunz or Happy Heinys for nights, and use the Kushies for daytime use. I don't think you'll see the legs leaking as much during the daytime, because baby won't go quite as long (and, if she's like my daughter, she won't nurse as much during the day as at night! :LOL). I bet the legs will fill in more, and then maybe they will work at night with a hemp doubler.

Kushies aren't the best aios out there,imo! But, maybe you could add a preemie prefold or some doublers to make it more absorbent. www.mypreciousbabybyapril.com has aio and lives in Canada.

Oh, since you are in Canada, you should try looking at www.lukesdrawers.com I LOVE the way their dipes look. I'd like to try one myself (I really like the tie dyed frogs )

I'm sure your little one is doing great! Lacy is rolling really well from front to back, and just this morning she rolled from back to front She also has a tooth already! They grow soooo fast!!! I can't believe our babies are already at the 3 month mark!!!
